Day 4.
Whatever… Friday! Today was a hard day in many ways. We went to a retirement village where there were MANY residents in many stages of and conditions of life. Your students were exceptional in a very difficult task. We split into various ministry teams and covered the campus with God's love. A gutter crew cleaned gutters around the independent living area. Several students went door-to-door offering to help with ordinary chores in the apartments. Some others gave hand massages. They sang hymns with the residents and also sang most of their program. We came to give, but we truly received the blessing.
I thought about Angela Hamm when I met 86-year-old Agnes Olive. Before we left her apartment, she told us that she had retired from her job and had retired from a volunteer position in the community twice but that she would never retire from serving her Lord and Savior. She said she was going to "live out her commitment to the Lord." What a testimony for us all to hear!
The concert tonight was outside in a windy amphitheater. It is hard to sing outside and not be distracted, but they did very well. They kept their focus and again relied on God's strength. At this point in the tour… more and more of them are learning what that means!
There was some playtime after tonight's concert… a first here in OKC.
I meant to say a word about some very important visitors we had on Thursday. Larry Grayson brought a couple of guys from VOP to come help with the work and to encourage Priority. What a GREAT thing. Tom and Bradley were VERY helpful and did in fact encourage us. They had to make special arrangements to be able to do that, but because of their incredibly God-centered natures, they gave of their time to be true leaders to younger students. They showed love and kindness and were in all ways a JOY! Thanks, Guys and Larry! You really made a difference!
Good day! Good day!
